Hydraulic excavator is one of the commonly construction machinery, and has a vital role in the development of national economy. With the government pay more and more attention to basic economic construction, the demand of hydraulic excavator in the domestic market will be increased. The cost of the production, the length of the production cycle, The mechanical properties of the products will be an important aspect of enterprise in market competition ability. Along with the development of computer technology, hydraulic excavator design method and design means are innovating, the traditional design method will be phased out gradually. The application of virtual prototype technology improves the development efficiency of hydraulic excavator greatly, and can predict the product’s static and dynamic performance at the greatest degree. Therefore, it is very necessary to study the dynamics of hydraulic excavator coupled virtual prototype.Based on the3D modeling software Pro/E4.0, the finite element analysis software ANSYS10.0and dynamics simulation software ADAMS2012for design platform, with the bucket capacity1m3of hydraulic excavator for design prototype, making use of the respective advantages of three software to create hydraulic excavator coupled virtual prototype model, and finally realize the dynamics simulation and structure optimization in ADAMS. According to the purpose of the research, this paper made a few aspects of the study:1) Making the theory analysis for the hydraulic excavator structure and working principle, and the force analysis for main parts, grasps the hydraulic excavator operation process and basic mode of operation. Determine the maximum digging force mathematical model of the hydraulic excavator.2) Establish the3D model of hydraulic excavator parts and complete assembly by Pro/E. Then, make the rigid virtual prototype to movement interference and preliminary motion simulation analysis. Finally confirm the reasonable rigid virtual prototype model. Make sure the coupled virtual prototype in the foundation for the next step.3) Research the methods of the hydraulic excavator’s coupled model of virtual prototype, make use of ANSYS modal analysis method to create the soft body for the main components of the hydraulic excavator. Then, transfer the rigid virtual prototype in Pro/E to ADAMS, deliver the neutral files of ANSYS soft body into ADAMS and replace the original rigid member, finally complete hydraulic excavator coupled of the virtual prototype. According to the research purpose, realize the dynamic simulation in ADAMS, and output simulation data and image.4) Based on the results of analysis, complete hydraulic excavator working device structure optimization. Provide the basis for hydraulic excavator product design and the update.
