The Chinese Eastern Railway is an existing representative railway heritage in China, and the Yimianpo Station is a second-class station in the the Chinese Eastern Railway line, with a higher rank and great scale. A great number of Russian technicians swarmed into this town at the beginning of station’s construction, and they also brought relatively advanced construction technology, therefore, a great quantity of Russian industrial buildings and civil buildings came into being, which have unique appearance. The remaining protective historical buildings of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Yimianpo have characteristics of the times as well as strong regional characteristics, but they have been destroyed in varying degrees for different reasons in their long history, so it is urgent to perform the protection and restoration for those buildings.To preserve and continue the protective historical buildings of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Yimianpo truly and comprehensively, the paper starts with the history of buildings, and analyzes those buildings in terms of functional composition, forms of construction and basic properties, to understand the basic forms and characteristics of historical buildings in the town of Yimianpo better. Based on the data obtained from full investigation and research, the paper also evaluates and studies the protection and restoration of those buildings, and tries to establish an evaluation system which runs throughout the whole process of protection and restoration including present conditions, process and results, to develop results which can play a guiding role at an operational level.Restoration technology plays an important role in the protection of historical buildings, which also is a kind of direct methods to deal with and solve the problems of damages and losses of historical buildings. Proceed from the actual situation, the paper mainly describes the suitable specific technological means for railway buildings in Yimianpo in terms of building materials, building structures, construction equipments and physical problems for representative types of the damages of the historical buildings of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Yimianpo occurring in their history, and provides references for the subsequent protection and restoration of historical buildings in other cities and towns located along the Chinese Eastern Railway.Finally, the paper takes the Songhua River Branch Railway Command of the Chinese Eastern Railway for example, studies the protection and restoration practice for historical buildings of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Yimianpo, and puts forward detailed measures for the protection and restoration of different parts of buildings based on early investigation and research, analysis of protection features and investigation of damage and loss situation for those buildings, to try to recover their former beauty through complete restoration.
