Residual current operated protector has been widely used during the reforming of lowvoltage grid in rural areas. But, there are so many shortcomings in low voltage line, such as bigrange, wide distribution, complex connection, bad insulation condition, and bad runningenvironment, which leads to high labor intensity and the difficulty to search and debug faultquickly and efficiently. Every Power Authority has put a lot of manpower and material to dosecurity work, in order to grasp the power grid operation and ensure the safe operation of thepower supply grid. For these problems, this paper carries out the research of remote monitorsystem of residual current operated protector based on wireless sensor networks and GPRS.This system integrates the application of microprocessor technology, computer controltechnology, communications technology and other technologies, and it is significant to increasethe level of automation of the rural power grid management, reducing labor costs, improvingefficiency, and ensuring the accuracy of data collection and strengthening the on-site emergencytreatment.This paper designed a set of wireless remote monitoring system. The system can be able tomonitor the multiple operating status of the residual current operated protective devicesreal-time, such as power transmission, power outages, phase, short circuit, overcurrent, electricshock and so on, composed of residual current operated protective devices, the WSN sub-node,the relay node and the central node, GPRS module. Here, there is adopting the RS485forachieving communication between the central note of WSN and GPRS module, and theoptocoupler and TTL for achieving communication between the residual current operatedprotective devices and slave note of WSN. When the alarm occurs, the management personnelcan receive the SMS from this system, which helps them grasp and deal with the faultinformation timely, then reduce the losses.The main research work of this project is as follows:(1). The design of WSN node (hardware and software part): The part of hardware includesmicroprocessor module, wireless transceiver modules, sensor module, serial communication module and power module. And according to the WSN nodes in different position in the system,the design of software is divided into: the design of software of WSN sub-node, the design ofsoftware of WSN relay node and the design of software of WSN central node. In view of thecommunication between the different modules, there is has designed different communicationrules and data frame format.(2). The design of GPRS gateway: This paper compares the four ways of GPRS network,and focuses on the GPRS Internet connection method based on dynamic IP and domain nameresolution. Here, the MCU uses SZ extended commands for achieving communication with theGPRS module. Finally, the author gives the corresponding summary.(3). Data center of monitoring: This paper uses Visual C++to complete programming, usesSQL Server to complete the management of data, uses Socket mothed to complete thecommunication between data center of monitoring and the GPRS module. Lastly, the authorcarries out the effect demo.
