| The traditional dwellings and settlements, which embody abundant people’swisdom and diligence, are developed and perfected in the process of people’scoordination with the nature over the past thousands of years. Against the backdropof economic development and social progress, people have raised higherrequirements for living quality. Indoor thermal environment has become an issue ofgreat concern to many people and gained increasing attention because it may exertsubstantial influences on people’s working efficiency and is closely linked withpeople’s psychology and physiology. As the result of the long history and seriousdamage as well as the inadequate restoration funds, the indoor thermal environmentof existing dwellings cannot meet people’s demand for indoor thermal comfortdegree.This paper takes the traditional dwellings on the Ancient South Street, Yixing，Jiangsu Province as the main research content. On the basis of the current researchstatus of both domestic and international traditional dwellings thermal comfort, thispaper first analyzes the influential factors of human thermal comfort, thermalcomfort equation and evaluation index and summarizes the factors that affect theindoor thermal environment and thermal comfort degree of the traditional dwellingson Ancient South Street. The relevant equipment and apparatus are utilized andobjective questionnaire conducted to launch in-depth on-site investigation andcollection of the parameters of indoor thermal environment in summer and winter.According to the contrastive analysis of the objective data of on-site test andquestionnaire, the indoor thermal environment of the inhabitants living on AncientSouth Street is also evaluated. At last, this paper also proposes some improvementmeasures to address the issues pertaining to thermal environment, hoping it couldprovide references for the improvement of the local residents’ indoor thermalenvironment. |
