Due to the wide application of power electronic devices, power quality problems havecaused widespread concern. Thus, one of the hotspots in the research fields to improve theimpact on power quality effectively is using the power factor correction (PFC) technology inpower electronic devices. The currently research of power factor correction technologyfocused on improving the power density and the efficiency and reducing the volume.Interleaving parallel technology can achieve power sharing through multiple converters inparallel. Using this technology can reduce the individual power requirements of the convertereffectively, and enhance the overall power rating of the power supply. Due to the interleavedoperation of each parallel converter, this technology can also improve the performance of thepower supply effectively.This paper firstly introduces the research background and the development status ofpower factor correction technology. And then, it analyzes the topology, the operation modesand the control methods of the PFC circuit. Based on the traditional single-phase Boost PFCcircuit, the paper advances the interleaved Boost PFC and analyses its working principle andcharacteristics. In addition, the paper researchs and simulates the changes of the circuitperformance when circuit parameters unmatch and provides the reference basis for subsequentcircuit design.Finally, the paper develops an experimental prototype of the interleaved Boost PFCwhich based on UC3854. Its control strategy is average current control, the interleavingcontrol is achieved by frequency division circuit and drive circuit. The paper gives the detailedparameter design of the main circuit and control circuit, and uses the Saber software to set up aclosed loop system simulation platform. Software simulation and prototype experiment verifythe validity of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the system design, prove that this power factor correction circuit has good correction effect.
