With the rapid development of hydropower cause in China from1970s, thehydraulic units are becoming large capacity, high power and large-scale, it makesthe relative stiffness of the equipment itself decrease and brings a lot of problems tothe hydraulic stability and vibration. So the research of hydraulic turbine statemonitoring and fault diagnosis technology is turning and meaningful on the purpos eto guarantee the safety and economical operation of the hydroelectric generating setand repair fault in time. This paper designed a hydraulic turbine state monitoringsystem on the basis of virtual instrument LabVIEW and applied it in actualapplication so that can offer a reasonable proposal on finding the faults.Firstly, the paper reviewed the research status of state monitoring and faultdiagnosis, virtual instrument technology, and introduced the typical vibration faultand its occurrence mechanism based on lots of correlative literatures and referencematerials at home and abroad.In the paper, vibration signal analysis and digital signal processing technologyare studied detailedly in the respect of data analysis method, including the analysismethod of time domain, frequency domain and joint time-frequency, and theapplicable condition and analysis effect of various methods were compared next,supporting the subsequent system development theoretically.Concerning the of hydrau-turbine, this article also designed a hydrau-turbinestate monitoring system with the functions of transducer calibration, data acquisition,signal analysis, database management and report output based on LabVIEW2011.Various kinds of signal analysis method were applied in this system, such as FFT,STFT and HHT analysis, which enahced the veracity and diversity of signal analysisresult and provided references for the coming failure mechanism analysisFinally, this paper indroduced the practical application effect of the systemused in the model test bed and used it to analyse pressure fluctuation signal of realturbine and its possible root causes of failure by comparing spectral analysis ofdifferent operation conditions.It is proved that this system has the characteristics of friendly man-machineinterface, high precision in acquisition and analysis, flexibleanalytical method, shortdeveloping period, friendly maintenance and a favourable application prospect.
