The gearbox is a key part of the wind turbine and gearbox oil is one of the important factorsaffecting the reliability of the gearbox. Currently, to the lack of gearboxoilmonitoringsystem, theweakstatus ofanalysisand diagnostic capabilitiesofexisting systems,studying the current ways andmeans of oil online monitoring,according to the actual situation of the wind turbine gearboxlubricants,the On-line Oil Monitoring System overall design was finished.In this PaPer, lowercomputer was based on ARM-Linux, upper computer was based on platform of Labwindows/CVI. Anew On-line Gearbox Oil Monitoring System was developed and ensured the reliable operation of thewind turbine gearbox by someway.Firstly, the overall design of gearbox lubrication system was introduced.Gearbox lubrication, oilanalysis and the functional requirements of the system were included.On the basis of these studies, theoverall design of the system was designed and hardware and software platforms were set up.Secondly, hardware design of embedded controller was introduced.The number of particles andthe dielectric constant were monitored. Data acquisition and peripheral interface circuits weredesigned on these two parameters.The selection of the sensor and processor,remote communicationinterface, wireless network interface power and memory circuit were included.Thirdly, Linux kernel driver development and drivers for the system were based on study ofembedded underlying driver. I/O drivers, AD driver and remote communications network driverwere included. Management system of the host computer was developed based on Labwindows/CVI.The host computer’s software platform was introduced firstly,then the various functional modules ofthe software, and data processing method of the host computer.Finally, the oil statistics,data analysis and applicationbased on grey module and boundary valueswere discussed.The relative experiment which was exclusively designed and performed proved thatthis system was absolutely feasible and adequate for wind turbine application. This system realizedCondition-Based Maintenance.
