Highway construction caused serious soil and water erosion,and then destroyed theecological environment.For the purpose to improve the environment and reduce the soil andwater erosion,the government did a lot of scientific research works including water and soilconservation monitoring.But now there is no unified specification for water and soilconservation monitoring of highway construction.And this article did a preliminary studycontaining those:Firstly,the article analysis the basic theory of soil and water conservation monitoringtraditional method of highway construction.The basic theory of soil and water conservation isthe first step of monitoring,so it must be make out that the causes of soil and water loss,characteristics, influence factors, and the main conservation measures of soil and waterloss.And then,describes the contents of soil and water conservation monitoring,analysis theusing of soil and water conservation monitoring form and methods.Secondly,the paper proposes new ideas of the water conservation monitoring.Based onthe monitoring program,monitoring management system,monitoring range and monitoringsites,the article detailed the new methodology of engineering participation parties for jointparticipation, focusing on monitoring of the construction unit, and making the monitoringunit monitoring as a guide. And then it analysis the monitoring indicators and methods ofhighway construction based on the monitoring contains such as the background values of soilerosion,the effects of erosion factor,Soil erosion status,conservation measures and soil erosionhazard.Lastly, from verifying the superiority of the method which presented in this paper by theengineering examples of the soil and water conservation monitoring of the highway ofshuipan, we can find that the disturbance area of the surface significantly reduced comparedto the design value, and Soil erosion also decreased significantly. Therefore, we can verifythat the method is feasibility and excellent.The article provides reference suggestions for road construction and soil conservationmonitoring, and it also can be used to guide the construction of the actual work.
