Research On The Basic Theory And Application In The Comprehensive Treatment Of Water And Soil Conservation In The Old-yellow River Basin

The soil erosion and water loss is the source of many disasters which destroy extensive natural area and produce extremely disadvantageous negative effect on the environment of our mankind. But the water and the soil are basic materials on which the mankind relies for existence, and the important factors for agriculture development. The water and soil conservation is vital to the improving agriculture conditions in soil erosion region, constructing ecosystem environment, reducing the disasters such as flood, drought, sandstorm and developing national economy. "Circular on strengthening the water and soil conservation" issued by the state council in January, 1993 points out:" The water and soil conservation is the lifeline of the development of mountain area, the root of national territory renovation and rivers harness, the foundation of the economic and social development, and therefore the basic policy in which we must persist over a long period of time ".This paper analyzes and discusses the basic theories and methods of the water and soil conservation and makes a case study of application according to the basic circumstance of the soil erosion and water loss in the old-yellow river basin. The main contents of this paper are:1.
