Traditional streets and alleys’ space is the essence of the ancientcity’ space, and is also an important part of the ancient city. As its unique local culture and along history of evolution, Small towns in central Shanxi plain formed the unique traditionalstreets and alleys space, which not only has the natural and geographical attributes even morethe social and human attributes, it’s a complex external spatial system of city.When people are walking in the urban space with three-dimensional characteristics,85percent of information comes from the visual perception, Human’s space representation isbasically received by visual perception, and Gestalt psychology is exactly an important studytheory in the field of visual perception. In the psychosomatic relationship issues, Gestalttheory deems that there is inevitable connection between the psychological or consciousexperience and brain experience which the foundation of the former; About personality,Gestalt deems it is the power of the whole, power communicates between the self and theenvironment constantly; As for the motive of behavior, Gestalt psychology proposes thathuman behavior is determined internally and is the result of the interaction of the individual’sneeds and the psychological environment.The central Shanxi plain has its unique topography and climatic conditions, long culturalhistory and rich cultural customs, these factors influence and determine the formation anddevelopment of traditional streets and alleys. This paper starts from the environmental field ofthe traditional streets and alleys space in small towns of the central Shanxi plain. Under themacroscope, this paper mainly studies visual organization and its laws, graphics andbackground pattern, constancy, three-dimensional space and movement of streets and alleysspace. Under the microscope, this paper analyses the characteristics of component factors, thescale and proportional relationship of various parts, morphological type and landscapecomposition, and describes the characteristics of the evolution of the traditional streets andalleys. The second part studies human activities in the small towns of central Shanxi plain.From the three aspects proposed by Jan Gehl which is necessity activity, spontaneous activityand social activities, and explores the intrinsic contact between external physical environment and the activities it carries. At last, this paper goes deep into the connotation of regional socialand personality research of central Shanxi plain, Space is not a matter of vanity, but a truepremises containing spiritual sense, this paper explores social and personality factors of theformation and evolution of small towns in central Shanxi plain. This paper starts from theperspective of Gestalt psychology theory by the physical space-activities-social andpersonality these four aspects in-depth step by step, and expounds the internal and close tiesbetween traditional streets and alleys space and the regional characteristics in central Shaanxiplain, then provides basis social and human understanding for the protection of traditionalstreets and alleys space of small towns in central Shanxi plain. |
