Bridge deck pavement is an important constituent of driveway system. Its quality and usedurability directly affect the safety of driving as well as its comfort, durability and investmentbenefit. The proportion of the bridge with small and medium span is over50percent based onthe statistics of the total sum of bridges around the country, therefore, it is necessary to doresearch on the small and medium span bridges.This paper focuses on the research on small and medium span beam bridge pavement ofasphalt concrete bridge and mainly investigates the types of diseases of deck paving andanalyzes the reasons. Using the software of finite element analysis ANSYS establishes a3Dsolid model based on the true temperature and the structure of deck paving of small andmedium span beam bridge pavement of asphalt concrete bridge. It also analyzes the regularpattern of the paving layer thickness and modulus of the asphalt concrete as well as thewaterproof and cohesive layer thickness and modulus impact on interlaminar stress. The bestthickness ratio and modulus ratio of the the upper and lower layer of the asphalt concretepaving layer is determined by calculation. The minimum thickness of it as well as the bestthickness and modulus of waterproof and cohesive layer is certain. It generalizes therelationship between the thickness and modulus of the paving layer and sharing stressaccording to the results by ANSYS. And it puts forward the method of calculating theminimum thickness of small and medium span beam bridge pavement of asphalt concretebridge. Meanwhile, L-17cement-based permeable crystallization type waterproof material,SW-10solvent-reactive type waterproof material and Synchronization of modified emulsifiedasphalt macadam are adopted to be compared by indoor shearing, pull-out test and the pavingeffect. And the SW-10solvent-reactive type waterproof material which meets the requirementof the backing engineering is chosen as the waterproof layer. The construction technology andquality inspection method of the waterproof layer are standardized.
