With30years’ reform and opening-up, China’s national economy has maintained agrowth rate of over8%and all aspects of society have been developing steadily. In order toadapt the sustained and rapid growth of economy, the country attaches great importance to theinfrastructure construction. Expressway construction has entered a rapid development period.However, various types of contradictions during land expropriation and demolition ofexpressway construction have continued to increase, which not only restricts the projectconstruction but also influences the social image of traffic industry. Through the analysis ofland expropriation and demolition of expressway,how to make it play the maximumeconomic benefit and social benefit has become a serious problem.The paper expounds the background, purpose and significance of land expropriationand demolition of expressway. It is based on the current expressway situation and foreignexpressway projects, taking the World Bank loan project for example. Furthermore, itintroduces the content and implementation of land expropriation and demolition ofexpressway projects. Land expropriation and demolition is an important part in the process ofexpressway construction, which plays a vital role in speeding up the build process, improvingthe image and playing the social benefit of the project. Taking Taihe to Ganzhou expresswayand Dexing to Shangrao expressway in Jiangxi Province as cases, the paper analyses twomodes of land expropriation and demolition of expressway. At the end of the paper, itmakes countermeasure research and analysis from the policy level, the technical level and theoperational level to demonstrate that the countermeasure is feasible in China.
