With the acceleration of China’s urbanization process, motor vehicles and city trafficdemands are increasing rapidly and sharply. Giving priority to the development of publictransport has become the key to solve the city traffic problem. As the two most importantmodes of transportation in the public transport system, the coordination between railtransit and conventional bus directly affects the overall efficiency of public transportsystem. Therefore how to adjust conventional bus system reasonably based on rail transithas become a subject of urgent research.Firstly, with a study of the two modes of public transport on the economic andtechnical characteristics and functions, this paper put forward the goal, content, principle,pattern and flow of the adjustment of conventional bus system based on rail transit.Secondly, according to the analysis of the competition and cooperation relationshipbetween the two public transport modes, this paper researched the adjustment method ofconventional bus network within track attraction range and described the technique oftraffic assignment. Then, in order to strengthen the connection of the two kinds of stationsin space and passenger service capability, this paper explored the adjustment method ofdifferent kinds of conventional bus stations in location and scale. In addition, this paperestablished the evaluating indicator system of conventional bus adjustment scheme basedon public transport system and passenger travel, and introduced an evaluating method ofgrey relational analysis. Finally, an application example was given.This paper not only summarized the theory and method of conventional busadjustment based on rail transit systematically, but also researched each progress ofconventional bus adjustment, indicating the direction of planning and application ofconventional bus adjustment based on rail transit for a certain extent.
