With the rapid development of urban economy in China and the increase of trafficdemand, urban traffic is facing severe challenges. To speed up the construction of largecapacity and high speed rail transit system is necessary, It has important significance toimprove the function of city’s public transportation system and the service level of urbanpublic transport system. But the construction period of rail transit is longer, and its coverage islimited before the network finished, so most of the city public transport system can’t dependentirely on rail transit in a short term. Moreover, reasonable connection with conventional busnetwork is very crucial for the rail transit to play the full role. Only realizing the transfercoordination between two kinds of transportation modes, it can meet the needs of differentlevels of passengers. Therefore, how to realize the effective connection between rail transitsystem and conventional bus system is an urgent problem. Based on this background, thecoordination method from the viewpoints of site coordination, line net planning and operationmanagement is studied in this paper, according to the basic theory of transfer coordination ofthe rail transit system and the bus system.Firstly, the paper analyzes the component of the city public traffic system, and byanalyzed the characteristics of conventional bus and urban rail transit this paper determinestheir respective function and the role in public traffic system. In terms of bus station’scoordination, this paper establishes model according to passenger turnover quantity indicatorsto determine the principles and methods of the transfer site selection. The paper determinesthe method of design of conventional feeder bus stops according to traffic demand and theactual need Finally, this paper analyzes the layout pattern and the specific layout plan of railtraffic transfer station and feeder bus in details, as well as the advantages and disadvantagesand applicable conditions. On the aspect of line net planning, this paper first analyses the adjustment principle ofexisted bus lines surrounding the rail transit. Existed bus line adjustment is analyzed. Indifferent conditions, in order to ensure that the two kinds of the transportation route layout isreasonable. Then on the basis of the analysis of the coordination region of rail transfer stations,in order to attain higher transfer efficiency, this paper taking the attractive radius of rail trafficas the research scope, establishes multi-objective optimization model which is composed bythe minimum total cost of passenger travel, maximum efficiency of line net and the minimumlayout lines. Genetic algorithm is applied to solve the problem. On the operation management, this paper puts forward the goal and principles ofcoordination and the studied content based on the analysis of urban track traffic andconventional public bus system. In order to ensure the capacity matched between urban rail transit and bus transit in peak hours, this paper established the capacity matching model.Through the analysis of the space and time table of transfer, it is concluded that regular busarrival relaxation time and the departure time interval is the key influencing factors of thescheduling coordination. Finally the paper discusses the operation coordination betweenurban rail transit and bus transit from fare system, ticket price and operating mechanism.
