Along with the fast development of economy and the progress of urbanization of China, the need for transportation improvement of cities increased significantly and problems such as traffic congestion become serious and are getting worse, bringing unprecedented challenge to transportation of the cities. To solve the problem of traffic congestion in cities, most big cities of China are constructing rail transportation which has large capability of transporting, high reliability of operation and is energy-saving and environmental friendly. However, due to the limitations of rail transportation, other kinds of transportations, especially the bus transportation which is also one main part of public traffic system, need to be integrated in order to maximize the function of rail transportation. Apparently, constructing a rational integrative public traffic system which contains both rail transportation and conventional public transportation and fuse the advantages of them is the key point for adequately using traffic resources and improving the transporting efficiency and service level of city traffic.Based on the review of domestic and international developing experiences on rail transit and conventional bus transit, this thesis firstly introduced the composing of city public traffic system and compared the characteristics between rail transit and conventional bus transit. The relationship and interaction between rail transit and conventional bus transit were clarified and based on which the function of these transit were allocated. Then, the train of thought, target and detail contents for integrating the rail transit system with conventional bus transit were proposed. The contents of this integration include traffic route integration, layout of traffic stations and management of operation and coordination.The integration of traffic route integration mainly refers to the rearrangement of the existing traffic route of conventional bus transit and planning of traffic line connecting route. Based on the linetype classification of rail transit and conventional transit, measures of integrating rail transit system with the existing conventional bus transit system was proposed, which realized the connection between rail transit and conventional bus transit system. Then the conventional design methods for traffic route of conventional bus transit systems which connect to subway system were mainly introduced, analyzing from the choice of connecting points and optimization of connecting route. Through calculating the maximum passenger flow each connecting joint could offer to the rail transit route, the optional stations were evaluated and the best locations of them were determined. The layout model of connecting route was built based on the purpose of maximizing the transfer efficiency. Meanwhile, evaluation method was proposed for the route net after integration. In the respect of designing layout of transfer stations, brief analysis was conducted based on the influential factors of station design and design mode. For operation management, the problems of information service and dispatching management about public traffic were studied. And in order to solve these problems, an intelligent integration public traffic system was constructed by using current information methods. Through adopting intelligent means, the operation management capacity after the integration of rail transit with conventional transit could be improved and the service level of city public traffic could be enhanced.Finally, the integration of conventional public traffic with the 1st line subway of Changsha between the South Furong road and Middle Furong road was analyzed as a case study. The integrating method and model was used in the case study, and the efficiency of the method was validated.This thesis have good guidance for promoting the intergration of rail transit and bus transit,city bus operational efficiency and service level.
