With the development of the social economy, the increase in the number ofpollution flashover of composite insulators of the power system transmissionand distribution equipment,Traditional regular cleaning insulators need toconsume a large amount of human and material resources, And with a certainblindness.Because of the development of computer technology andcommunications technology, Make status information of the monitoringcomposite insulators transmitted to the monitoring background has become themain direction of the current research. Existing transmission medium is a wired,short-range radio, GSM, GPRS network and so on. But the wired to transferdata need to lay cable, high operating costs; and short-range wirelesstechnology can not solve the remote data transmission problem; GSM networkonly rely on the SMS to transmission the limited capacity of data; GPRSnetwork not only can rely on SMS but also can combined with the Internetfor long-distance transmission of data, but the disadvantages are packet loss anddelay, the transmission rate is also limited; How to rapidly and reliable totransmitted the status information of monitoring composite insulators tothe background, has become one of the urgent need to solve the problem of thesafe operation of power grids.For this problem, This paper presents a method ofremote data transmission based on3G and embedded technology. It is using the3G network transmission capacity, transmission speed and embedded systemsthat have powerful control, convenient and practical features to solve thisproblem. Through hardware and software design of the transmission system, thethe last actual operating results show that the data transfer speed is very fast.This paper research include:(1) a variety of analysis and comparison of the datatransmission;(2)Analysis the performance and structure of system requiredhardware modules,and focus on introduce the the embedded system’s maincontroller circuit structure;(3) According to the system requirements to developsystems software and application programs. System software design include build aLinux development environment, cross-compiler tool installation and developmentboard environment settings, the main job is to customize Linux operating systems,including Bootloader, kernel and make the root file system;(4) Applicationssoftware development including the transplant Qt library, and designed a datatransmission program that based on the TCP/IP protocol’s C/S (client/server)mode by Qt software.The last is to drive the3G module connected to thenetwork,and run the application program to make the sensors collect datathrough the3G network successfully transmitted to a remote monitoring center,system stable performance and transfer speed quickly,can meet the designrequirements.
