With the accelerated development of Chinese urban construction, the constructionscale of buildings in our country will become larger. If ignoring the long-term buildingenergy consumption but only paying attention to the current one-time constructioninvestment, it will result in more and more buildings of high energy consumption beingbuilt, of which the burden will be very heavy in the later period of energy consumption.Hainan area here we study is a region of hot summer and warm winter, just like otherprovinces in the region, is short of energy, especially in summer peak of air conditioners,electricity usage situation is very tense. Therefore, it’s of great urgency to analyze onbuilding energy consumption in the region.Through the detailed investigation of local residential building envelope structureand analysis of energy consumption calculation data, we found that the outer buildingenvelope which could be seen commonly there had a great potential for energyconservation. First of all, aerated concrete block wall is better than solid clay wall, theexterior wall with high reflective paint is more effective than external insulation boardin reducing the energy consumption of the whole year. After investigation of localarchitectural windows we discovered that it was better for the local windows to use heatreflecting coated glass than insulating glass for energy-saving, which proved thatair-conditioning energy consumption caused by solar radiation accounted for a largepart in Hainan, we should choose glass material with low shielding coefficient inpriority. Through the analysis of the horizontal shading, we found that air-conditioningenergy consumption decreased with the size increasing of the horizontal sun-shadingboard external dimensions, but the decreasing speed of energy consumption became slow after500mm, so the distance of local horizontal sun-shading board externaldimensions should be within500-600mm. Through the study about the area ratio ofwindow to wall of the construction, we noticed that the larger the ratio was, the higherthe energy consumption of buildings would be. The average area ratio of window towall has the trend of increasing for the new-built buildings which is detrimental to thelocal energy-saving work.By means of research and analysis on the local air conditioning behaviors wefound that:①while residents using air-conditioners in summer, if they reduced thecumulative daily running time by1hour, then the air conditioning room could reducethe energy consumption by8%-10%;②if the setting temperature of air-conditionerraised by1, the energy consumption of air conditioning room could be decreased atleast nearly9%-14%;③the different tolerance (opening) temperature would effectenergy consumption variously, after comparison of28,29and30, we sawthat with1raised, the air conditioner would almost decrease energy consumption of19%-30%;④the indoor ventilation time was a key factor to affect the energyconsumption of air-conditioning. Ventilation time of1.5was32%higher in energyconsumption than that of0.5. Through the contrast we could see that different kinds offactors could effect on air conditioning energy consumption, but the effect differed,ventilation time and tolerance (opening) temperature of air conditioner had the mostobvious effect on air conditioning energy consumption, followed by the settingtemperature and running time of the air conditioner.Hainan province is a hot region of real estate development over the years, thenumber of residential buildings has grown rapidly in recent years. The province evengreeted development opportunities of high speed construction ever since puttingforward the goal of constructing it to an international tourism island. If we do not payattention to energy-saving of residential buildings now, a large number of high energyconsumption buildings might be built in the future. This will be a heavy burden towardsfuture economic development. Therefore, this paper made a detailed investigation and analysis of the outer building envelope, air conditioning behaviors mode of Hainan localbuildings. Providing basic data of building energy consumption comprehensively is notonly necessary but also has a great practical significance.
