The Double-Tower Connected Strueture(DTCS) is a new structure that two towers areconnected in a certain position,which not only gives us a new vision,but also is convenient to use.But because of the connector, the former independent vibration each monomer structure interactsunder earthquake action, the mechanical reaction is more complex and more serious damage.All previous earthquakes show that under the earthquake action one of the important reasons ofthe double-tower connected structure damaged is the coupled vibration and torsion, especiallythe asymmetrical connected structre.At present the research of structure under themulti-dimensional seismic torsional response still existig problems,this paper researchs aroundtwo topics that the seismic torsional component and asymmetrical connected structre.In this paper,i establish the symmetrical and asymmetrical connected structures by usingfinite element analysis software ANSYS, analysis the elastic-plastic time history analysis on thestructure under unidirectional bi-directional seismic function bidirectional and bi-directionaltorsional seismic function, and comparison of the dynamic characteristics and seismic responseof symmetrical and asymmetrical connected structures under seismic function. Get the followingmain conclusion.1. The trend of natural vibration period of the symmetrical and asymmetrical connectedstructures is the same generally. The dynamic characteristic of asymmetrical double-towerconnected structure is mainly control by tower part. The asymmetrical connected structureappears the phenomenons that the vibration mode are not synchronized, amplitude are not thesame.2. The connected structure’s translation reaction and torsional response undermultidimensional seismic function is bigger than under unidirectional seismic function. Theinternal force and hysteresis curve of the column in different position are different.3. The influence of the seismic torsional on the structural translation reaction is verysmall.But the effect of structural torsional response is very significant.And, the seismic responseof asymmetrical connected structure is obviously bigger than symmetrical connected structure. 4. Because of the two towers influence each other, the connect structure appeared certaintranslation-torsion coupling. Especially the stress of asymmetrical connected structure is morecomplex,and the translation-torsion coupling is more more obvious. the internal force of theconnecter is more big. So we should pay attention to the connector’s strengthen of theasymmetrical connected structure when we design this structure.
