With the economic development of China, more and more public buildings areconstructed and used. And as its much energy consumption, public buildings areattracting more and more concerns from the perspective of energy conservation. Moreand more people concerned about the public building energy efficiency. Takingmeasures to reduce public building energy consumption is of great significance for thesustainable development of China. The paper selects a typical shoppingmall in Xi’an as the research object. Firstly, tomaximize the energy-conservation amount, we learnt the mall’s energy consumption amount through a field research including the energy costs of indoor lighting, equipment and air-conditioning system. Secondly, we monitored the actual indoor environment and operational state of air-conditioning system in cooling, transition and heating season. Weproposed several measures through theoretical and test analysis. By the simulation of Design Builder, the energy costs would be reduced obviously for these measures.Through a comprehensive analysis of the test data and energy simulation, severalconclusions are obtained as follows:①The balance of the building’s air-conditioningsystem is relatively poor and by proper adjustment, existing air-conditioning system cansave as much as15.3kWh electricity consumption,②The average illumination and LPDof the shopping mall exceed the standard amount. Maintaining the same illumination, the replacement of T8lamp by T5lamps can save86kWh electricity consumption everyyear,③The COP of the two chillers are4.7and4.6,respectively. Compared new ones, the two values decreased obviously and thus the two chillers need to be repaired andmaintained,④Without fresh air entering, two1067RT chillers are able to meet the demand of cooling, whereas when fresh air entering is considered, prepared660RTchiller need to be used,⑤If the air conditioning system can be equipped with theexhaust heat recovery system,254thousand kWh of power consumption would besaved, compared with fresh-air-supplying mode, while extra649kWh electricity neededcompared with no-fresh-air mode,⑥Turning on the chillers forwardly and reasonablycan save as much as256thousands kWh electricity in cooling season, amounting to6.6%of the overall consumption of cooling system.
