With the development of modern expressway construction and the continuous increaseof the traffic volume, the quality problems of the expressway construction aroused thepeople’s attention. The road can not reach the design life, the early damages occur frequentlyand the compaction degree is not compliance are the three main reasons for the earlydestruction of the road. Compaction is an important part for the pavement layers to obtainedsufficient compactness. The effective compactness detection method is an important means tomonitoring compaction. However, the traditional compactness detection methods belong toexperimental point of most of testing by test point, and the test point detection methods oftenresult in a missed detection of "week points" or lose control of the "over pressure points" andso on, which can form the inner hidden dangers of the road quality. In this dissertation, the relationship between the signal of vibration acceleration and thephysical properties of materials is obtained by analyzing the two-degree-of-freedom model ofthe vibratory roller-paving materials. By using Matlab software simulation, the stiffnesscharacteristics of the paving materials and the vertical acceleration of the vibrating wheel ofvibratory roller are in a positive correlation is proved. Through a large number of field testshave shown that this positive correlation, which presents a real-time compaction detectionmethod.According to the proposed method, the detection equipment is developed and theprinciple and structure are described. While using the equipment for a large number of fieldexperiments, application development software for test data is processed to determine thevalue of the acceleration signal reflects the degree of compaction method, fitting thecorresponding regression formula to prove the validity of the method.
