At present,China’s highway network formed scale initially,as an important part of thehighway planning and research,service facilities (service area) has become an important andurgent problem. Highway service area,which is used to alleviate drivers’ long-distance fatigueand provide of dinning, safeguard traffic safety, provide refueling facilities for passingvehicles, is the most complete functional areas along the highway facilities. Therefore, theplanning of service area become necessary.Firstly, according to expressway’s present situation and further planning,this paperanalyzes the service areas’ current status and the meaning of reserching the expresswayservice area overall planning.Secondly, the introduction of the reluctant concept of the highway service area. Thepaper reads the classification, the role of the service area and adaptive analysis of the majorfunctional areas.Thirdly, the paper introduces highway service areas functions configure andclassification.Fourthly, this chapter is the core of the article, firstly the chapter introduces the"appropriate" principles of service area; use mathematical models to make sure the distance ofgas stations, restaurants; introduce the traffic potential of the service area for the service areas’driving-into rate caculation.Finally, this paper selects several typical routes-Lianhuo highway of Xinjiang highways,discusses the method and process on service area overall planning,subsequently proposes theXinjiang highways service area planning....
