Against the problems of China auto transport industry for monitoring systems andsecurity management issues, this paper developed a monitoring and dispatching system ofvehicle based on GPS platform.This paper designed and developed the vehicle monitoring and dispatching system basedon GPS and GPRS after in-depth analysis of home and abroad research status. It achieved thevehicle remote location, emergency alarm, messaging and monitoring center of vehiclemanagement and dispatching functions. Firstly, the paper conducted depth study on the GPSpositioning system, GPRS communications, GIS and other technologies.Then the GPS carterminal was developed based on the mentioned technologies. The terminal consisted of fiveparts which are CPU module, communication link module, GPS module, GPRS module,alarm module and display module, and the hardware circuit and hardware testing of theterminal were discussed in detail in this paper. Finally, the paper developed the monitoringcenter management scheduling software based on GIS platform which consisted of personnelinformation management, vehicle information management, log management, database design,vehicle location and dispatch and GPS data processing modules.The test results showed that the developed vehicle monitoring and dispatching systembased on GPS platform had a fully function, works stable, with user-friendly features andcould meet the engineering application needs.
