The Intelligent Public Transportation System Based GIS/GPS/GPRS

Oweing to the great advantage of public transportation to the personal transportation, preferential development of urban public transportation system is a universally accepted approach of solving urban traffic problem. Recently, Intelligent Public Transportation System has become the important development trend of public transportation field. Adopt GIS techonologies in the construction and management of Intelligent Public Transportation is a key way to accelerate Intelligent Public Transportation construction and improve the efficiency and attraction of public transportation.Each part of the current public transportation system and it's disavantege was discussed in this paper. This paper also analyzed the framework of Intelligent Public Transportation System and it's sub systems' function after introducing the GIS platform and the other techonologies. Based on the normal techonologies of Intelligent Public Transportation System and the famous GIS platform, some effective solutions to solve the problems such as road network design, bus stop spacing optimizing, database optimizing .etc was gived in this paper. Based on the above works, this paper cites an example of Intelligent Public Transportation System that based on GIS and GPS and GPRS, which is "The Bus Monitoring and Attempering based GPS in Shanghai Pudong newly-developed area". And it proved that the design in this paper is feasible and improved the proficiency of Intelligent Public Transportation System.
