As a major passenger conveyance, the passenger cars often cause massive death andinjured when the traffic accident happened, owing to large passenger capacity of the coach. With the rapid development of passenger cars industries, more and more attentions have beenpaid to its passive safety. This paper is aimed at the research hot spot, to carry out the staticstrength analysis of passenger car body frame and the characteristics of vehicle rollover. The paper takes a passenger car as the research object, through the analysis of thestructural characteristics on the coach, established a body frame finite element model and acarload finite element model for rollover crash test used the before processing softwareHyperMesh. Proceed Bending and torsion conditions of static strength analysis, obtained thecorresponding stress distribution nephogram, calculated maximum stress values are less thanthe allowable stress of the body material and through the free modal analysis, also calculatedthe first10order modal frequencies and mode shapes of the diagram, analyses its inherentfrequency8.309Hz~24.647Hz can meets the design requirements of frequency of5Hz~31Hz and a smooth mode changes. In vehicle rollover simulation study, the deformation ofthe vehicle and main component, center of mass acceleration, energy absorption, and crewliving space invasion was analyzed, the results show that the passenger car is designed tomeet the standard of bus rollover of the regulations. Real vehicle rollover test carried out onthe bus and compared the simulation date and the real vehicle test date to verify thesimulation model, also put forward an improvement scheme for the passenger car bodystructure and it can provide ideas and references for enterprises in the development of similarproducts to improve the passive safety of the bus body.
