Car's pole side impact refers to the accident form in which a driving car impacts a fixed rigid pole by side for a variety of reasons. On account of very small contact area of car body and pole in these accidents, the car's partial distortion is always very serious, resulting in drastic secondary collision injury for driver and passengers. Compared with the side impact of car to car, car's pole side impact accident often lead to much higher casualty rate. For the sake of improving research content of our country in automobile collision safety and increasing the safety of cars in the pole side impact accident, the accident form is necessarily to be studied.By using LS-DYNA and HyperWorks software, the car's finite element model was developed as its collision speed direction is at a 75° angle to the longitudinal axis of body, and its special accidents were simulated respectively when the vertical impact plane passes the dummy head center, rib center, hip point on driver's seat and collision speed equals 29, 32, 35 km/h. Based on the results, the transfer paths of car's impact energy were analyzed, and the influence of both collision locations and speeds on car body security were studied. After that, the accident was simulated when both the vertical impact plane passes the head center of the ES-2RE dummy on driver's seat and the collision speed equals 32 km/h. In terms of the resulting data, the driver's body injuries in the accident are analyzed.Studies show that: 1) when a car's pole side impact accident occurs, the transfer of collision energy starts in the longitudinal direction, then goes in vertical direction, ends in the transverse direction of car body; 2) in three considered situations of car's pole side impact at 75° angle direction, car body has the worst security when the vertical impact plane passes the dummy head center; 3) in three collision speeds of 29, 32, 35 km/h, car body has the worst security when the collision speed equals 32 km/h; 4) in the accident, a driver would not only get very serious injuries of head, lower ribs and abdomen, but also take a high risk of injuries of neck and pelvis.
