With the rising of automobile possession in our country, the traffic accident is becoming a big social problem. So the research is focus on the automotive passive safety. Simulation definitely reduces the cost and shortens lead-time of development, and becomes an important part in the automotive safety field. In July 2006, the regulation of side impact has carried out, which will promote the research of side impact.Strength of side doors is specified in the side impact regulation. In addition, as the main part of car body, the car door has important effect on side impact safety. To get the experience of side impact simulation and find new ways of automobile side impact, the car door is separated from car body in the simulation of side impact.Based on nonlinear finite element theory, metallic materials performance test is done. From the test, a material model of simulation is obtained. Through the simulation of the test by using LS-DYNA and the research of influencing factors on simulation, a modeling way of nonlinear finite element analysis is acquired. After that, some questions of modeling on nonlinear finite element and the selecting of controlling factors during the simulation. In the end, according to the door of some passenger car, a finite element model of the car door, using finite element preprocessor software-HYPERWORKS is built. On the basis of the model, the structural performance of car door is analyzed, and the car side impact performance is simulated according to concerned regulations, which provide experience to the research of car side impact performance.
