Medium and low voltage (MV/LV) distribution system, as the last link of powersystem, its intelligence is closely related to the power supply quality and reliability. Onlyintelligent upgrade of medium and lower voltage distribution is achieved, can the powersupply quality increase greatly. For the numerous and small capacity electrical equipment,MV/LV distribution system has not been paid enough attention to for a long time, whichleads to funds devotion shortage and equipment relatively backward, and MV/LVdistribution system has the become weakness part of power grid. It is important to developvarious types of Distribution Automation System (DAS) for reducing the fault diagnosisand repair time. On the other hand, for the development of the smart grid, the equipmentlevel and management level of MV/LV distribution system must improve and become moreintelligent, to meet the needs of renewable energy generation system and interactive grid.According to the requirements and characteristics of MV/LV distribution system, thispaper researches and develops an intelligent monitoring system for MV/LV distributionsystem which has the functions of supervision, control, protection, communication, andintelligent diagnosis etc. Based on the3G wireless network, this system breaks through theregion limit and realizes the remote transmission of information needed, thus has becomethe future direction of the intelligent Distribution Automation System (DAS).This paper researches and develops hardware of the smart terminal, remote datatransmission unit based on3G network, and software of the monitoring center. The smartterminal is composed of terminal controller, data acquisition module, switching input andoutput module, man-machine interface module, communication module and power moduleetc. The master-control system uses double CPU structure of TMS320F28335andSTM32F103, which can help provide efficient and real-time power monitoring, intelligentdiagnosis and record for the power equipment operation performance, temperature, humidity and video of the monitoring substations. The communication system is based onCDMA wireless network and ADSL special line of China Telecom, and achieveshigh-speed data transmission between substations and monitoring center. The monitoringcenter realizes real-time monitoring of substation working condition, and has the functionof data management and statistical analysis, load reports and dynamic curves etc. Thewhole system establishes the foundation for future advanced applications.
