With the Lanshan habour of Rizhao port becoming an important port of national petroleum strategic reserve and the smooth opening of the pipelines of Rizhao-Yizheng&Rizhao-Dongming, the quantity of VLCC visiting Lanshan harbour is increasing steadily. It is found that the present VLCC deepwater channel scale of Lanshan habour can not sufficiently meet the requirement of300,000DWT ships’ navigational safety in the management practices of Rizhao MSA. In order to ensure the navigation safety of VLCC the effective width and depth of deepwater channel should be broadened.Researching on the navigation dimensions of deepwater channel of Lanshan harbour, this article proposed an upgrade scheme and analysised ship’s navigation scheme and ship handling technology, evaluating various factors:natural condition,meteorology and hydrology, infrastructure and vessel traffic flow, etc. Through the evaluation, the channe is wided to the north of64.2m,the south side of the original channel bottom line keep state, the expansion of the effective channel width is upgraded to384.2m, and the depth is upgraded to20.14m,can meet the design on behalf of the ship safety of navigation requirements.The paper will be helpful to solve the ships’navigation safety and can be reference for upgrading project of Lanshan deepwater channel. To a certain extent, it also provides some useful reference on VLCC navigational safety supervision of maritime administrations.
