Research On The Ship Maneuvering Evaluation System Based On Ship Handing Simulator

Ship Handling Simulator has been applied into the fields of marine training, scientific research, engineering design, etc, and its function needs to be perfected. In order to fulfill the automatic evaluation function of the simulator, experts tried to establish a kind of objective evaluation rules based on some mathematical model and principle since 1980s. However, there has not a evaluation system which can be used in Ship Handling Simulator. As Ship Handling Simulator plays more and more important role in marine training, it is urgent to fulfill the automatic evaluation function of Ship Handling Simulator as soon as possible.Based on Ship Handling Simulator, evaluation models of the difficulty of ship handling and ship handling safety degree are established. The paper are generalized as follows:Firstly, the author concluded the basic principle of assessment; put forward the conception of the difficulty of ship handling in channel, the function of safety assessment navigating in channel, and the frame of assessment model.Secondly, the paper discussed the difficulty of navigating in channel, and established environmental difficulty assessment model based on fuzzy theory.Thirdly, the author discussed the danger of navigation in channel, and exemplified different dangerous situations in different channel. The author invented a ship handling safety level assessment model from two aspects, namely the danger of stranding and the danger of collision.Finally, according to the danger situation of maneuvering in channel, and ship handling safety level, the author evaluated the quality of seaman who was trained on marine simulator. Also a program was designed to print assessment result automatically.The paper tries to use marine simulation to evaluate seamen's maneuvering ability in channel. Although it is not complete, still the author hopes that a complete marine simulator will appear not far away.
