The multipurpose (multifunctional) rocket extended-range rifle grenade shot by using therifle bullet and the gas pressure at the muzzle is an unparalleled product which is beingresearched by the scholars from all the countries in the world. Compared with the general riflegrenades, this product has largest range, higher precision and stronger power. But it is hard tosolve the flight stability of this rifle grenade because of the complexity of exterior ballisticproduced by fixing rocket-assisted velocity-increasing device. So its gunnery precision is notsatisfied, which is the main reason why this product is hardly fitted out.In this paper, the factors affecting the flight stability of the rocket extended-range riflegrenade were analyzed theoretically and simulated numerically, and two kinds of therocket-assisted engine were designed, respectively, on the basis of the theories of exteriorballistics and interior ballistics of rockets: exterior-jet rocket-assisted engine and interior-jetrocket-assisted engine. The structure characteristics and operating parameters of the two kindsof engines affecting flight stability were compared and studied comprehensively. And theaffections of the firing time, the velocity increment, the mass deviator, the variation of initialvelocity VH and gust on the flight stability were emphatically analyzed based on the theory ofexterior ballistics.The influences of the firing time, the velocity increment, the mass deviator on flightstability were numerically calculated by using the given mathematical model of the ballisticand the limiting condition and reason to the value of the attack angle and the deviationangle were analyzed qualitatively. This can provide theoretical basis and numericalreference for solving the flight stability of the rocket extended-range rifle grenade.Around the above research, some tests on flight stability, firing reliability, straight flightstability and the maximum range of the rocket extended-range rifle grenade were done and theresults were analysed..
