Urban Roof Garden Scenario Design Study

Modern Industrial Revolution brought great changes, while the creation of wealth, but also to the modern city problems:increasing the size of the cities, but more and more confusing layout, a sharp decline in the overall quality of the environment, green area and green rateurban problems increasingly acute and complex, causing widespread concern in society, people began to these different ways of a large number of high-rise buildings and the promotion of new transportation, freeing up a lot of space on the ground and the roof. Meanwhile, in recent years, at home and abroad for the roof garden of practice and research has become more sophisticated, roof garden-effective for the improvement of urban ecological environment has been well known, the roof garden became an urban greening trend in the construction of urban green space system occupies an important position.On the situation, there was no conclusion although many disciplines have mentioned. Different disciplines have their own unique insights. For example, the phenomenology of architecture believes that "the place is situation", the other one environmental psychology considers that "the cognitive maps is situation". The Chinese classical botanical garden claims that "the artistic conception is the situation". On the basis of the previous research, this article defines the situation as the spatial environment which designs to meet the situational subject feeling according to the situational subject requirements. The article claims that "situation" is not only a constructed space which based on the subjective feel, but also includes many objective factors. This article creatively regards people’s perceive of space and space requirements of architecture and city environment as the power of situational design, summed up the situational design method of the city roof garden which includes not only the situation space design strategy but also spatial correlation situation design strategy. We should consider the space correlation context effect in a subjective situation space, so that the situation is no longer confined by space design category and situational design more figurative and science.After finished the analyses and interpretation of the situation and situational design, the article has taken Changsha Huayuan project as a case and made the correlation analysis to the project geographical characteristics primarily, then summarized the position that the project made for their situational space. Finally, introduced the implementation of the situational project design synthetically and provided a reference and example for future situational design of the roof garden city complex. The understanding of the situation and the unique insights on situational design in this topic are new research methods in the study of situational design. It has also provided a new perspective and thoughts to study for the future city design and research.
