As one of the most important parts of power system, when there is some fault andabnormal, protective relaying is the first defense of power system. As the development of thepower industry of our nation, not only the power system but also the protective relaying hascome earth-shaking changes. In order to make the power system working normally, it is moreand more important to keep the protective relaying high speed, accuracy and reliable.Nowadays, the capacity of power system and generator is increasing fast. However, the600WM coal-fired units are still the main form of our electric power. So it is very importantand meaningful to analysis the protective relaying of600MW coal-fired power plant.This paper analysis the protective relaying of a2×600MW coal-fired plant based onZhanjiang in Guangdong Hans Energy Company. Firstly, the principle of protective relaying ofplant-power system and generator-transformer is studied. Then the paper analyzes theprotection scheme of Zhanjiang Power Plant. Finally, some problems of this plant protectiverelaying system are contained. In order to solve these problems, some solution is proposed.The operation results and data analysis in protective relaying system are very useful andmeaningful for the efficient and security of this power plant.
