China is a large shipping country, and the demand for navigation of various professionaltechnical personnel is huge. There are a large number of navigation college students to requirepre-service training, and also many social working crews to strengthen skills training every year.Especially in recent years, IMO (International Maritime Organization) introduced a number ofpreferential policies to promote the vigorous development of the navigation career to makemaritime graduates increase year by year. Thus, there is a large crew training market in ourcountry. Currently, there are two main types of the Marine Engine Room Simulators thatappeared in the market: the Physical simulation simulator and the hardware-in-the-loopsimulation simulator. Although those simulators can simulate the prototype equipment andoperating environment and have high-quality training effects, there are also some defects:equipment is expensive, debugging cycle is long, training people and times are restricted byplaces. And these trainings are poor in extensibility and flexibility, and need to spend a lot ofmanpower and material resources, which are not effective training methods. Pure softwaresimulator overcomes these shortcomings very well, and pure software virtual operating platformbased on the technology of virtual reality to overcome the limitations of physical equipmentoperation. Many of the existing pure software virtual operation platforms are the formIDRS-Client Software based on C/S, whose development cycle are long, maintenance costs ishigh, and students can only participate in training and assessment of the operation in a specificcomputer room. Therefore, it is imminent to develop a new type of pure software virtual Marinepower plant operation platform meeting the market needs.This paper studies web version of Marine power plant virtual operating platform based onB/S applying the web configuration technology to the construction and design of the softwareplatform architecture. Compared with the single version software base on C/S, online software ofthe B/S structure has more advantages, higher security and maintenance-free Client, and studentscan login in web site to attend training at any time and place through the Internet.To establish HMI (Human Machine Interaction) operation platform under the Webenvironment, we can use third-party tools JMUAUTO to develop ActiveX to simulate physicalmodels such as simulation marine power plant and instrument and so on. Firstly we design HMI in the WinForm window and write operation logic of power station to control scripts and setevaluation rules. Then we convert it to a Web page using a specific code conversion program,and release the function of virtual operation and evaluation of virtual marine power plantplatform based on Web environment.Virtual marine power plant platform based on the environment of Web Configuration cannotjust meet the needs of online teaching demonstration and training assessment in navigationcolleges, not just be appropriate for students to evaluate daily training subjects, but also beappropriate for maritime sector to make a competency assessment with objective unifiedstandards.
