To meet the requirements of customers’ diversification and individuation, the mass customization of products already becomes the challenges of current manufacturing enterprises. Enterprise competition’ globalization and customer requirements’ diversification put forward higher requirements according to the products which the enterprises provide. Therefore, products are necessary to satisfy customer requirements to adapt to market competition. How customer requirements quickly and efficiently are reflected in product design is the current trend of research in design field. Researching the mapping method of customer requirements and product structure not only implements extension for the product design method, deepens the study process of the entire product life cycle.Because of the differences of product categories, their properties will be different. In this paper, based on the axiomatic design theory, combining with the customer requirement features, customer requirements are studied as a starting point of the products’ own characteristics. Customer classification method and statistical knowledge are applied to classify and count customer requirements. Customer requirements map product structure. Customer requirements to function requirements to design parameters a series of links mapping are achieved. HOQ, Function-means method and interrelationships between components et al. are used in research process. The specific research contents are as follows:Firstly the knowledge of customer requirements is introduced. Combing with the customer requirement features and considering the product itself characteristics, the collected requirement information is summarized and analyzed making use of Kano model and customer classification method. The statistical knowledge is applied to solve weight value of customer requirements. It is convenient to lay a well foundation for the mapping study with product structure.Secondly FAST method is used to decompose hierarchies for function requirements. HOQ is improved to list configuration table between customer requirements and function requirements. Weight of customer requirements solves weight of function requirements. Design matrix between function requirements and design parameters considers the associated factors between design parameters, in order to match weight more reasonable between design parameters and function requirements. Then constraint vectors are introduced which with function requirements are integrated. Constraint matrix and constraint configuration matrix are built. On the basis of the relationship matrixes of customer requirements and function requirements, function requirements and design parameters, the priority design order of design parameters is analyzed. It does a job preparation for optimization design of design parameters.Finally as an example of the car’ power design, mapping method research between customer requirements and product structure is proved. The result shows that the method can be used for the actual product design.
