Modern dining space design need to have a meaningful level ofcultural connotation, meaning associated with some kind of cultural traditions and localcustoms. To better grasp this sense, we must be familiar with a variety of cultural traditionsand background, familiar with these cultures contained a special meaning.The relationship of traditional and modern architecture has always been important to theconstruction industry, the paper analyzed from different perspectives the use of the diversityand complexity of traditional culture in the modern building interior design. Learn traditionallocal culture should be abandoned only a certain kind of material, symbol, or extracted in theform of methods used, but rather to many aspects of organic combine the traditional elementsof a harmonious coexistence of in order to produce more and better design.Chengdu is China’s first batch of historical and cultural city, has a long history. Due to thenatural conditions of the lucrative, long cultural history, Chengdu mostly know how to enjoy,but also easy to sink into the enjoyment,"leisure","pursuit of peace" has become animportant feature of the Shu culture. This paper analyzes the contemporary dining space interior design features, cultural identityand geographical characteristics, including some of the features. Then, in conjunction withlocal geographical environment, urban culture, food culture and the effects of traditionalregional culture in this particular area of Chengdu dining space design, analysis, and anexample to be addressed, overall grasp of how to use the traditional regional culture to in thedesign of modern dining space.The final stage combined with the previous analysis, inspire us to think about how inheritanceand innovation of traditional regional culture, allowed to design products which meet thefunctional requirements but also to meet the spiritual and cultural needs good interior space.
