In the history of our country, Yanji has been a multi-ethnic settlement, and everydynasty set up administrative institutions. After Qing Dynasty entered theShanhaiguan Pass, aiming to protect the birthplace of the royal family, the royalgovernment implemented ban to the area. Afterwards natural disasters happened,forcing a large number of refugees outside Shanhaiguan Pass into it to go in foragriculture.At the same time, the emigrants on the other side from Korean Peninsulaadventured to slip into Yanji to farm in the morning and return in the eve, to farm inthe spring and harvest in the autumn, which made the region of Yanji become moreflourishing in progress of time. At the same time, the composition of the populationcomposition became even more complex. When the Russian and Japanese armyinvaded Yanbian, the increassingly acute crisis of frontier forced the Qinggovernment to transfer the center of politics, military, and economy gradually toYanji. After the Russo-Japanese War, the Japanese militarists controlled the Yanjiarea, and set up commercial ports, constructed railway, established consulate andpolice station, carried out the police department building activities and so on, whichlaid the foundation for establishing Manchukuo and plundering the natural resourcesof the Yanbian region.In the history of the development of modern architecture, since advancedbuilding technologies in the West were brought in at the end of the Qing Dynasty, alarge number of Western-style buildings in the treaty ports have come into being.Yanji area is also subject to the impact of this trend of thought. Jilin FrontierSupervision of the Office completed in1909, a series of commercial buildings of theJuzijie commercial port and the construction of dormitories in Yanji, ChaoyangchuanRailway Station respectively reflected the form characteristics of the blend ofChinese and Western style, the Chinese Baroque style and improved prairie housestyle. Bank building showed the characteristics of the form of the classical revival.Diversity of religious buildings also enriched the appearance of public buildings inYanji. The buildings like the government office of Jiandao province and theJapanese general consulate and other administrative buildings constructed in theManchukuo period stood out from the public buildings of Yanji in a particularhistorical context by its the contextual continuity and symbolic features.The article focuses on combing various factors on the effects of architecturalform in a special historical background in the context of analyzing modernarchitectures of Yanji, which is on the basis of various historical records andliterature.The article uses the comparative method and inductive analysis actualresearch, analyzes contemporary Yanji and its surrounding areas deeply andsystematically through investigation and study on the spot. Firstly,it arranges theformation,the development,the programs and changes of modern Yanji throughabundant historical background,summarizes and analyzes the city appearance ofYanji in different historical times,figures out the arteries and veins of formation andconstruction of Yanji modern city,which lays the foundation for the analysis and discussion of the forms of architectures.Secondly,it analyzes the influences of theform of modern architectures of Yanji, studies the architectures and the environmentby combining modern architectures with lots of historical materials, and it alsodiscusses both how the modern architectures contacted with history,custom andculture and how they influenced and promoted each other. Finally, the articlesummarizes the constitution of the diversities of the forms of modern architectures. Italso summarizes the forms of architectures that originate from different culture,regarding the different features in aspects of combination and arrangement in space,appearance shape, flat-screen function, materials, scale and the spirit of place as amain analysis contend, thus comes to the conclusion from theory to reality and fromconcept to case-based reasoning.
