Cast steel joint is applied in large span space structures because of its high-blooded capability and strong adaption, but the design method is juvenile. Therefore, more research in this area is needed. This paper is based on project in Henan Jiaozuo Stadium. The main works have done in this paper are as follows:(1) Firstly, based on the technical specifications for the application of the cast steel joints, this paper introduces the cast steel joints material, type, features, design principles.(2) Secondly, the calculation in this paper mainly uses finite element software-ANSYS. In the cast steel joint, the connection between cast steel chassis and ribbed stiffener is weakest part. The analysis of this weak part is the main content of this thesis. Five different bolt types from M20to M45are tested in this joint. The first thing to do is observing the differences in effects caused by different kinds of bolts to the weak part in the joint. Different numbers of bolt such as twelve, sixteen and twenty are tried. The next thing is to analysis the influence caused by different length from welding lines include30mm,35mm and40mm. After all these analysis and calculation, the most suitable combination with the perfect bolt pattern and size, and the most suitable weld length is chosen. In the end, sixteen high-strength bolts of M30and35mm long reinforced weld will be the most suitable combination to make the most of the cast steel joint.(3) The full-scale tensional behavior experiment on two support joints in Henan Jiaozuo Stadium is performed, the effect of the strengthening hook on tensional behavior of support joints is investigated, and the stress distribution on the surface are obtained. Compared to that of design value load, the bearing capacity of two joints specimens excess four times. According to the above experiment results, it shows that the design meet the engineering safety requirement. Most regions of specimen are in elastic state, and small part of the region is in plastic state. Due to the effect of strengthening from the hook, the specimen B was delayed into plasticity. It improved the mechanical behavior of the specimen B. Bearing capacity of the specimen has been well improved by the effect of strengthening hook.(4) Doing finite element analysis of two joint specimens, and the FEM results agreed well with experimental results and verified the former assumption. (5) In the end, some suggestions are presented about the further research problem of cast steel joints.
