Abstract:The development of high speed and heavy load of the railway system escalates the deterioration of the rails, which severely affects the security and stability of the running train, as well as the service life of rails. In recent years, the rail milling train has become the main equipment of repairing and maintaining the rails, whose grinding property directly concerns the results of repair and maintenance. With the grinding equipment of rail milling train as the research object in this paper, the grinding force and its control model are studied carefully. The main contents of the paper are as follows:1. Research status of rail grinding technology and grinding force control technology is discussed. In accordance with the operating characteristics of grinding equipment, wheel oblique contact grinding which can overcome uneven wearing, burns and so on is put forward. Based on the analysis of various kinds of drive modes, a composite drive combining hydraulic with electrical machinery is suggested and the hydraulic system and structure of grinding equipment are designed.2. According to grinding principle, force on grinding wheel is analyzed and the relationship between them is given,’force controlling grinding’is put forward to control grinding process, location relationship between grinding force and location boots is analyzed and control variables in grinding process are defined.3. Influences on grinding force from dynamic characteristics of three-way proportional pressure reducing valve, vibration of Train-Rail System and wheel wearing during grinding are analyzed and experiments are carried out to analyze the influences from grinding longitudinal feed speed and wheel speed on grinding force. Force controlling system of grinding equipment is designed.4. The mathematical model of the grinding force control system was established, the generalized predictive control algorithm was used in the control process and the simulation of the grinding force output and position control parameter of the control system was done in MATLAB. Results show this method can eliminate various disturbing factors which affect the grinding force, thus favorable control property is obtained.5. Grinding equipment experimental platform is built where grinding experiment research is carried out. The experiment shows the grinding equipment designed according to this paper and the control method is reasonable, and they can achieve better grinding.
