With the development of economy and the rapid increase of city population, more and more large-scale commercial complexes with huge size and multi-functional spring up in China recently. Large-scale commercial complex not only provides people with convenient, beautiful and comfortable shopping environment, but also improves the whole city commercial image and pulling the regional economic development. While on the other hand, as to the large-scale commercial complex’complicate business scope, large fire load and people load, it brings more fire hazards at the same time. With the rapid development and spread of huge commercial complexs, the revision of the relevant laws and regulations lags current urgent situation, the specification has been unable to keep up with the pace of development of construction. It is inevitable that the current standards in the fire protection design can’t meet the requirement of large-scale comprehensive commercial complex. Hence, it’s necessary for us to do some research about huge commercial complex’ fire safety.This paper according to the method of the performances-based fire protection design, a large-scale commercial complex as the research object, by using the method of fireproof partition measures, sub-security zone and other synthesis measures, thus obtains the reasonable solutions, lower down the large-scale commercial complex’ fire hazard, so that the fire safety performance to achieve the desired security level.In order to testify the validity of the large-scale commercial complex’ performance-based fire protection design, in this paper, by establishing the assumed fire model with the use of FDS software, and this paper presents computer numerical simulations of the fire scene, to study the fire proof partition measures, the smoke spread and the smoke control design, so that we can figure out how long a person can evacuate at the available time, At the same time, the paper confirms the people load of this complex and present an evacuation simulation with the Pathfinder software, to figure out the necessary time of evacuation by deremining the parameters of fire load and evacuation.Compare the evacuation available time with the evacuation necessary time in6kinds of fire scene evacuation scenarios.Through the statistics result of65safety evaluation show that: the personnel can be safely evacuated under the automatic sprinkler system and mechanical smoke exhaust system is effective(19evaluation points are all safety);if all safety system failure including the fire shutter,the safety of the personnel who stay in the Fire zoning and fire compartment of the building cannot be gruaranted(23judgement point,8are unsafe);if the automatic sprinkler system is effective while failure of the mechanical smoke exhaust,the personnel’safety also can be gruaranted(23evaluation points are all safety).To sum up, the results verify the performance design scheme is effective through theoretical analysis, computer simulation and data statistics. Proving the performance design can improve the safety performance of the large-scale commercial complex and the scheme is feasible.
