Needles and rollers are widely used in mechanical parts and equipments such as bearing and machine tool, especially used in the field of cylindrical magnetic materials. Taking the situation that types and length of rollers are various into account, it is important to test sorting methods reasonably under the premise that guaranteeing the manufacturing level of rollers.Manual testing is the most common method and also has been applied for a long time, but it is easily influenced by objective factors, time-consuming, high error-rate and high labor intensity. Especially in recent years, as the cost of materials and labor is increasing, traditional measurement method is hardly meeting the modern production requirements。The detection of cylindrical roller parts has been the weak link in cylinder automatic production testing. So it has important theoretical and practical value to study positively on the key technology of cylindrical roller parts automatic detection and sorting system.According to user’s requirement which ensure the accuracy of0.02mm, to sorting the cylindrical roller by the class of length. This sorting machine employs synchronous controllable automatic feeding and automatic material distribution mechanism, greatly improved control precision and efficiency. Because of the application of contact type sensor, it increase s the accuracy as well as reduces production costs. Rotary disk type and feeding integral type design pattern reduce the complex of mechanism, and selection speed can reach120-200every minute, it realizes the purpose of accuracy and fast. This paper includes the following aspects:Structure of the sorting machine:the sorting machine is made of feeding mechanism, transport mechanism, measurement mechanism and blanking mechanism. The existing sorting machines have some disadvantages such as small measuring range and slow speed, because of that, this paper puts forward the one-piece design of rotating disc feeding and position, it optimizes the structure of sorting machine and increases efficiency.Measurement process:when DUT (device under test) is transported to the position under the sensor, the sensor moves down as pneumatic slipway does to the lowest position to contact the DUT, and controlling center read the data of sensor, after that, pneumatic slipway moves back, completing a cycle and waiting for next DUT.PLC control and visual design:this separator does automatic control through BUKE MT4404T touch screen and PLC controller. In the touch screen interface, length parameter, automatic mode and manual mode etc. could be set. It is easy to operate through visual design, the whole process will be intelligent and hommization.Error analysis and finite element analysis:this paper does error analysis in the detection process, and puts up with a effective solution. It also does statics and dynamics analysis to the measure workbench through finite element, calculating its stress, deformation and the natural frequency.According to the above design, a prototype was manufactured. Dividing the cylindrical rollers whose diameters are in the range of4to6millimeters and lengths are in the range of22to30millimeters into5groups. The sorting efficiency is150/min and its accuracy is above0.02mm. It is proved that the sorting efficiency and accuracy meet the qualification.
