The automatic transmission technology of automobile is one of the most important researches on the vehicle. In order to solve the power interruption problems during the shift, a new transmission scheme has been proposed-No Power Interruption Transmission. By absorbing the advantages of DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) and AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission), the dynamic performance was greatly improved. The Double Clutch components was the core part of DCT, similarly to it, the Controllable Multi-mode Shifter was the core part of the new transmission. The separation processes of friction clutch during gear shifting of AMT and the overlap timing control of clutches of DCT and AT were avoided through mode switches of Controllable Multi-mode Shifter.Through theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental study, the automatic transmission was studied, the key parts of the transmission were analyzed, such as engine, friction clutch, Controllable Multi-mode Shifter, the starting and shifting process were simulated.Firstly, the master clutch-friction clutch was analyzed, the dynamic characteristic of diaphragm spring was discussed and then the model of engagement process was built. At last, on the basis of analysis of engine, reducer and vehicle body, the transmission system model was built and simulated.The control strategy of clutch engaging speed was selected and the fuzzy control strategy was applied, including the fuzzy controllers of starting intention and engagement speed. The validity of the model was verified through comparing with the control strategy of constant speed.Then a shift operator was designed, and the characteristics were studied, the function was verified through the test bed. At last, the shift process simulation was studied by two parameter shifting strategy. By contrast with shifting process of AT, the shifting characteristics were analyzed.
