Substation is a very important part in the power grid system, and their normal operation plays a vital role for the stability of the grid. In order to ensure the normal operation of substation equipment, staff must carry out regular inspection of substation equipment. However, there are some disadvantages in the traditional inspection which is widely. In order to manage and monitor substation equipment more effectively, this project has developed substation equipment health management systems. Compared with other electrical equipment management system, there are some advantages.This system is based on ZigBee, ASP.NET, MySQL and other technologies. The system has following features:1) Remote monitoring. Wireless infrared temperature sensors and wireless temperature and humidity sensors can periodically collect the busbar and transformers’temperature and the indoor temperature and humidity, and these data, as the monitoring tools for the administrator, is reported to the server.2) Paperless inspection. Wireless inspection instruments can receive wireless data and send inspection results. So inspection workers needn’t carry complex and heavy inspection card when inspecting.3) Data sharing and analysis. Inspection results can be synchronized to the server, sharing data within industrial Ethernet, and the server provides data reports and trend analysis service for technicians analyzing.4) SMS function. CDMA gateway modules provide SMS alarm function and the SMS query interface for users.These system mainly consists of ZigBee wireless sensor networks and Web servers. First, The article describes related technologies, and then designs ZigBee wireless sensor network and the Web server. At last, the article describe the communication between the ZigBee wireless sensor network and the Web server. The system design includes the design of part of the hardware, but software development is the main body. Specifically, there are the following pieces of work:1) The design of the wireless inspection instruments, including software and part of hardware.2) The design of wireless infrared sensors and wireless temperature and humidity sensor.3) The design of MySQL databases and websites.4) The design of CDMA gateway.
