With the rapid development of science technology and national economy, the requirements of railway system for safety, reliability and efficiency are also continue to increase. Track circuit as an important part of railway system, its reliability is closely linked to traffic safety. Because of the corrosion of rail line, the track circuit can not accurately determine the occupation state of track segment, which could threaten the traffic safety. The ways to improve track circuit, such as3V technology and high-voltage pulse track circuit, have many disadvantages for high cost, difficult combination and short life and so on. In response to those problems, the monitoring system based on ranging sensor is designed and implemented to solve the bad shunting of track circuit.Sensor technology, GPRS communication technology and computer technology have been used in this system. It is consistied of ranging sensor nodes, control board, GPRS communication module and the monitoring system of track circuit to solve the bad shunting of track circuit. The ranging sensor nodes is fixed to the sleepers by different ways and won’t exceed the flat of rail. The ranging sensor nodes collect real-time distance data. The MCU get redundant information collected by ranging sensor and judge with occupying method, once the train come into the rail section, the MCU control relay to connect the cable line, the system assisting the track circuit to complete its original function. The occupied status information is uploaded to the monitoring system of track circuit via GPRS module and achieved by the socket. The monitoring system of track circuit complete to comprehensively monitor to the two-dimensional view of the station, the main interface of station will be intuitively feed back the occupied situation of station to the station staff, and it is convenient for the station staff to arrange and dispatch the train. The system’s function included the real-time monitoring, according to the monitoring results, the system judged whether the track station is occupied by the train, and real-time displayed the occupied status of track sections, then it stored the occupied status information in the database, it is convenient for the station staff to examine the information of occupied status.Compared with the existed solutions of bad shunting of track circuit, the system is easier to be combined with the track circuit systems, and easy to install and maintain. The system can monitor the real-time occupation information of trains without relying on historical information, and support the continuous monitoring in case of power off and restart. To some extent, the system can solve the bad shunting of track circuit, and has characteristics of low-cost, reliable, safety, scalable and so on, it provides references for improving the equipment of bad shunting of track circuit.
