At present, there is not a univeral standard for the testing method of gravity retaining wall. Reasonable characterization index of gravity retaining wall is the basis of evaluation method for its construction quality and operation condition. Selecting common gravity retaining wall in highway construction for the object, on the basis of summarizing the characterstics of construction quality and operation condition of gravity retaining wall, the thesis puts forward the appropriable index system of construction quality and operation condition of gravity retaining wall by theoretical analysis and other means. Also, the thesis gives rapid testing technology for the corresponding index, which provides the basis for evaluation method of construction quality and operation condition of gravity retaining wall.Firstly, based on the analysis of failure characteristics and failure modes of gravity retaining wall, the thesis summarizes factors of retaining wall for the view of retaining wall’s safety, including insufficient foundation bearing capacity, less wall thickness, poor compactness of retaining wall, rising underground water level and weak filling soil behind the wall.Secondly, Selecting wall thickness, wall defect, filling soil behind the wall and disabled drainage facilities as main index, the thesis analyzes their effects on the stability of gravity retaining wall, then gives the characteristics index of gravity retaining wall combined with practical engineering.Finally, for the proposed characterization index of gravity retaining wall, the thesis concludes the corresponding rapid testing technology, including testing principle, testing method and data analysis method, etc.
