Study On Fatiguestrengthof Axle Box On High-Speed Train

With the widely application of high speed train, Thecomponent and parts of the train must be faced with more badly environment. As one of the most important part bearing the weight of the train, the safety and reliability of axle box get more and more attention.The article discusses the influence on the strength of axle box by joint.Through the strength simulation analysis by using different joints and compared with the strength test, A new strength test method is adopted by theory proved before.The axle box undertakes force from three directions, which are named vertical force、 lateral force and longitudinal force. But the effect on strength of axle box by each force is unknown. The article investigates the effect on the axle box by each force, and proposes strength impact factor to evaluate the effect by force on three directions. All of this will provide basis for the new method of strength test of axle box.The article pays attention to the influence on the strength of axle box in low temperature environment. The test was undertaken from two aspectswhich are low temperature impact energy and fracture toughness.With the mechanical properties comparison of nodular cast iron and aluminium alloy the article also discusses the feasibility of axle box made by high-strength aluminum alloy.The article also does the dynamic stress analysis by using finite element software ABAQUS and multi-body dynamics software SIMPACK. Dynamic stresses on axle box are analysed.Life of the axle box iscalculated with the help of the rain flow counting method.The article also calculatesthe life of axle box on several accidental operating conditions and compares them.
