With the rapid development of China’s economy and the fast growing speedof road infrastructure construction, the demand for traffic management hasbecome higher. Especially in recent years, the number of vehicles grows,therefore, it is our top priority to gurantte the passengers’ safety by improvingvehicle management and effective coordination. Nowdays, the intelligent of thedomestic vehicle monitoring system isn’t intelligent enough, problems such asopacity, single, unable to correctly identify the license plate due to human orenvironmental factors still exist. To solve these problems the article designs anintelligent traffic system based on RFID technology.The system used RFID technology that is a non-contact automaticidentification technology. RFID has the following advantages: long distancerecognition, large storage capacity and so on. The system is composed of vehicletag, reader and PC monitoring center. The tag is installed in each car and thereader is installed along the road. When the vehicle enters the work field of thereader, on the one hand, through wireless communication of the reader and thetag realization the identity, speed, position of the vehicle and sent to the hostcomputer via the serial port to the vehicle real-time monitoring. on the other hand,the reader send the limited speed information to the rag, and compared withactual speed. If exceed the speed limit, it will remind the drivers in time. Thethree parts of the system are designed in detail, includes the hardware design andthe software design of tag and reader, realization of the wireless communicationof the two parts. The PC monitoring center software developed by Visual studio2010provides the monitoring management of the system.The design of this system solves the existing traffic monitoring systemproblem such as non-transparent, single, unable to identify the license platecaused by human or environmental factors. The vehicle speed and position control improved the methord of traffic monitoring, make people’s travellingmore convenient and has positive significance for traffic managemen.
