Research On Heritage And Development Of Arcade In Old Xiamen City

Arcade is an important part of Xiamen’ urban context, and also the rare and valuable tourism resource. Since China’s reform and opening up, Great changes have taken place in Xiamen with the development of tourism, urban construction and old city reconstruction and the completion of new arcade in the old city. In the process of transformation, there is some phenomena such as the loss of characteristic space of ole city, the missing of regionalism and modernity on arcade, the flaws in protecting historic buildings, that has seriously affected the overall expression of arcade style. What features should be inherited? How to inherit? How to develop? These problems must be faced and settled in the construction and transformation of contemporary arcade in old Xiamen city.The first chapter collects and refines the space characteristics and building style and feature from the aspects of streets and buildings through Collection and analysis of the construction and development process of the Xiamen overhang. With this as the structure of the inheritance of characteristics of the overhang, this paper puts forward the coping strategies for the problem in the construction and development of Xiamen arcade.Based on the investigation and research of the arcade of old Xiamen city, the second chapter analyzes the change and problem of the modern arcade of Xiamen from two aspects of street and building. In the street stratification plane, this part proposes strategies to recovery the characteristics of the urban space and the corridor living space. In the single architecture stratification plane, it proposes strategies to create space, develop space, and reconstruct space combined with the landform and the methods to improve the monomer style.The third part looks forward to the future and tendency of the arcade in terms of recycling of modern arcade and the future development of streets and buildings. In addition, based on the research results of anthropology and environmental psychology, the last part put forward forecast and prospect to the space transformation, landscape setting and functional distribution of arcade block in old Xiamen city.
