The individual travel demands have grown rapidly, just because of the developed urbanization and the rapid explosion of cities and population, and the transport infrastructure has faced increasingly prominent contradiction between supply and demand. the rail transit system planning and construction haved been carried out in major cities in our country because of their large volumes, high speed, punctuality, the transfer station, as the place for passenger hub and transit, passenger rail transit hub, Its size not only affects the entire transit system costs, but also largely determines the efficiency of the travelers and the travel experience, overall, in order to quantify the metro station volume reasonablly, it matters greatly to improve the travel efficiency and experience,,and reduce the overall cost.Based on the determination method summaries about passenger flow predictions and station volumes at home and abroad, the paper analyzes the rail travel transfer processes and methods, as well as the classificaiton and presentation of the inner facilities.In perspective of the passenger sources, the paper analyzes the passenger consisting at the rail transfer station, has the passenger attraction region devied and defined, identify the generalized travel cost model, by which the paper compares the generalized travel cost of travel method chains, quantify the passenger attraciton region model based on the station passgers, as well as the solution ideas, which make preparation for the passenger prediciton at the transfer staitons. At the same time, based the prediction methods about travel generation and distribution in the Four-stage method, the paper predicts the travel overalls among different districts, builds the residents travel mode chain choice probability model, by which the paper predicts the inbound traffic, outbound traffic as well as transfer traffic, providing the basis for internal facility size estimations at the rail transfer station.The paper analyzes the factors affecting the size of the transfer station facilities and studies the feature of passengers.Then it builds the model calculating the size of transfer station facilities based on the characteristics of the passenger. Finally, the paper verifies the usefulness of the model by studying Changsha Wuyi Square station.
