Along with the high-speed railway network forming gradually, the passenger transportation demand will increase rapidly and the passenger flow structure will be more complicated as well. In this situation, how to convey passengers within the high-speed railway network more efficiently and more economically becomes an urgent problem. Meanwhile, as the premise and foundation of the train operation plan, the passenger transportation mode directly affects the vital interests of railway transport enterprises and passengers on both sides. Therefore, combining with the reality of high-speed railway network and the characteristics of passenger flow, the passenger transportation mode under new situation is discussed.Based on the analysis of high-speed railway network andpassenger flow characteristics, two passenger transportation modes of high-speed railway are proposed, which are the through mode and the transfer mode. Then the relationship between passenger transportation mode and train operation plan is researched. Advantages and disadvantages of each mode as well as its operating conditions are analyzed, and the appropriate modes of channel high-speed railway network, intercity high-speed railway network and mixed high-speed railway network are discussed.Key problems of transportation organization under two modes are studied. For the through mode, as a precondition that the priority of over-line train is higher than that of in-line train, the train diagram of over-line train is researched,and the skylight plan which has the best adaptability with the sunset-departure and sunrise-arrival train is tried to be found. While for the transfer mode, the transfer node plan is designed aiming to ensure passengers to have the maximumdegree of travel choice freedom and the train’s linkage plan is discussed by considering two aspects which aretransport capacity matching and train linkage time.The way to simplify high-speed railway network is studied. Then based on the characteristics of passenger flow, considering both transport enterprise income and passenger generalized travel cost, models for passenger transportation mode choosing are established by constraints of electric multiple unit maintenance distance and passenger flow strength. At last, taking the channel high-speed railway network as example to verify the simplifying method, the key OD distribution of the whole network is obtained, and aiming at the key OD of Guangzhou-Taiyuan, it’s calculated that the through mode is better by using the model established above.
