Smart substation is an important element of smart grid. Its construction will bring about huge changes to transformer substation’s design, management, check and operating maintenance. For intelligent substation secondary system engineering design, the most influential change is that the smart substation uses communications network to replace the conventional secondary circuit and the virtual digital information to replace the electrical signals on the physical in network, secondary system function information logic and the signal input and output and communication network wiring will not one-to-one correspondence anymore. Cable or fiber optic cable can only reflect the relationship of a connection on the communication, but cannot describe the actual function mutual operation, mutual communication relationship. Smart device is only a common operational platform; devices will not reflect the functional configuration condition. At present, protection training simulation system is still stuck in the traditional protection functions for simple simulation, Not only it is single function, only a single device emulation, and cannot support user customization. This training system has been unable to meet the requirements for personnel training in the development of future power system, starting from the personnel training demand, so it is necessary for meet the need of protection and control training system for smart grid development.In response to this situation, digital relay protection training simulation system based on IEC61850. Virtual protection of simulation system is based on the reality of the protection device modeling, On the basis of graphical, which is based on IEC61850hardware and software application training to the LAN interface with each other as a way of communication, conducted by a single device testing and dynamic secondary circuit, it is the urgent need and the consensus of the grid technical staff to establish a full-featured, user-friendly and to support the future development of smart grid technology protection and control training system. The function of virtual circuit mapping is to complete the virtual protection and virtual instrument connection, the essence of the virtual circuit is protection function-based, which is based on IEC61850, LAN communication method and communication configuration description, which would clear the case of each phase of current and voltage.
